Blasting Cellulite With Lipodissolve, Mesotherapy and Other Non-Invasive Fat Busters
By Allison Carter

Looking in the mirror you may notice those cottage cheese thighs and that dimpled skin and wonder “how did this happen?” Well, cellulite, as this is most often called, is actually just another name for pockets of fat that push up against the skin. These collections of fat molecules get entangled within fibers of connective tissue just beneath the skin causing the area to become dimpled or look lumpy. Often genetics, age, gender, amount of fat in the body, and thickness of the skin influence the appearance of cellulite on common areas such as the stomach, thighs, or buttocks.

Getting rid of cellulite involves either removing the fat that causes it or smoothing out the fatty area. Thus, there are many ways to start getting rid of that extra cellulite you’ve got hanging around. Those unnecessary dimples, or unfortunate cottage cheese thighs can be treated with simple microinjections, vacuum, pressure, light, or surgery. The following are some fast facts on popular treatments and procedures to reduce unwanted cellulite.

Mesotherapy:
Mesotherapy treatment involves the injection of a chemical solution containing various vitamins and minerals into an area of cellulite. The solution is claimed to break down the cellulite so that it can leave the body naturally. There is no standard solution for the mesotherapy formula, thus the chemicals in the solution depend on the patient and/or provider.

Arasys:
This machine works by sending electrical current directly to the nerve endings of the muscle in the area being treated. These electric currents supposedly cause the brain to increase the body’s metabolic rate. The muscles then contract quickly leading to the natural breakdown of fat and in turn, the ridding of unwanted cellulite. Arasys claims to be an inch-loss system and also helps to tighten skin around the area being treated.

Velashape:
Velashape is a non-invasive machine that combines radiofrequency, infared light, and vacuum all working to increase the body’s metabolic rate and break down fat deposits that cause cellulite in troubled areas. The recovery time with this procedure is short, but requires several treatment sessions to achieve desired results.

Velasmooth:
The Velasmooth device is a second generation product from the Velashape family. The device uses massage, relying on differing pressures to increase circulation in the area being treated. The treatment supposedly shrinks the fat cells and smooths out the skin to reduce the appearance of cellulite. Desired results are typically achieved after several sessions.

Liposuction:
This surgical procedure performed by a licensed physician is used to remove excess fat from desired areas. While this procedure is invasive, requires general anesthesia, and is subject to risks that accompany any surgical procedure, fat removal is permanent

Lipodissolve:
Lipodissolve is a minimally invasive procedure involving a series of chemical microinjections administered over a period of months. This procedure typically uses a combination of phosphatidycholine and deoxycholate, often called PCDC. Providers claim that the substance melts fat and reduces cellulite. However, the drug is not approved by FDA, and few studies have been done to show that it is safe and effective. In fact, the FDA has deemed PCDC “unapproved drugs for unapproved uses.” Several countries have banned or warned against the use of PCDC for cosmetic purposes, most notably, Brazil, Canada and the United Kingdom. In addition, prominent US Medical Societies have warned patients and physicians against the unapproved treatment, including the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery and the American Society for Plastic Surgeons.

There are many ways to deal with cellulite. When considering various treatment options be sure to consult a physician and choose a treatment that is safe, effective, and fits your needs.

There are far more than a 1,001 weight loss programs, treatments, programs and solutions advertised in magazines, on websites, and outlined in books and by experts on television. Diet and exercise are always components of any program advocated by physicians. Do fat removal methods such as lipodissolve and Velasmooth really worth, and are they safe? Allison Carter tracks and reviews all the latest trends, and reports her findings on LipoTreatmentFacts and other health websites. She explains the difference between lipostabil and mesotherapy and liposuction so consumers can decide what’s safe and effective.
